Temporarily clamping the 1″ x 6″ chines at the bottom of the sides – the chines are a little wide so I cut them down to 1″ x 4 1/4″.

After cutting down the chines to 1″ x 4 1/4″ and installing the fasteners, it was time to smooth out the edges of the chines even with the plywood sides so the bottom plywood planks could be installed. The chines were planed down and a straight edge (2 x 4) used from side to side to make sure it was level.
The bottom of the bow stem was also trimmed down at this point to be level with the plywood sides:
